Plastering to a wooden or brick edge

Hi, 

I'm plasterboarding my garage, and want to plaster to a wooden window surround, and to a breeze-block wall, as shown in the pictures.  How do I do that without getting them all messy.  Is there a special bead that is used, or masking tape, or what?

For the brickwork and low tack masking for the window wood. Also consider cling film for wider window protection.

Interesting, thanks.  What about when it comes to removal, and there is plaster stuck to the tape - when the tape is removed won't it pull plaster with it, leading to a broken edge?

Or run a knife along the line you want

You can use a thin 2.0mm plaster stop bead to create a shaddow gap. You let it all settle down shrink etc and then mastic to air seal if need be.

 

Have done this on my own house but did the plastering myself as it is really time consuming to set up the bead acurately. Could not afford it otherwise. Have to say.. needed a bit of time off after (sore body) so hat off to @nod

What finish have you got on the breezeblock?

if plasterboard you want that on first and then a bit of scrim tape joining the ceiling skim to the wall. Same if rendering.

Initially its just going to be painted.  I guess it's not too much of a problem there because I'll be painting after the plastering, so I'll cover up any staining.  I may render or plasterboard it later.
