Just got some 8-way WAGO copies, FAKOs if you like!  Fresh from the Guangzhou Dangerous Toy & Lawnmower Company.

Not using them on mains, just for my gate photocells.

First impression is they're made from more brittle and lighter weight plastic than the real thing. Shown next to a genuine 5-way. Not sure they'd pass the drop test.

I have the official real mc coy . You have to be careful as even when fully clipped a wire can occasionally pull out ! . I use on mains and stuff because I’ve got big nuts and ain’t afraid of dying . You bought cheap sub standard shite so you deserve an electric shock .

Enjoy ( it’s a slow night for me so need to post any crap )

The lever on these fakes feels like it could suddenly snap. Also on the real ones the lever action is in two stages, like 95% closed then you feel a positive but very defined, extra click.

These fakes, the last bit is very wishy washy.

I'm only using it to common up 6, low current 24vdc negatives then take a 7th off to my gate PCB.

I used actual Wago on a lighting circuit and called in the electrician to connect to a suspect 2 way switch,  and to certify it. He stripped all the Wagos off and fitted boxes.

I had done all the complex feeds through floors and ceilings (builder's work  and thinking) so it was still worth it. Electricians had quoted stupid money for surface mounting.

He wouldn't say why they wouldn't leave on the Wagos. I guess they would have wanted to check all my connections, and then  they used their preferred methods. Or is there a fundamental worry about wires popping out?

I suppose he used screw terminals did he? Leaving the install open to screws loosening over time.

WAGOs all day long for me. Maintenance free to all intents and purposes.

And don't they just! As the decades roll by I notice this is almost inevitable on any wiring I've ever gone back to with a screwdriver.

I know this happens very quickly if you come across a stranded wire that's been tinned because the lead is so soft, but solid copper wire? I guess its the same principle but just takes longer as it's less ductile. I really don't know what the mechanism is other than perhaps repeated thermal expansion and contraction? Whatever, a spring force clamp is not going to suffer the same fate so long as it remains springy.

I imagine that and maybe a dose of Fleming's rules, EMF causing further movement of already loose screws?

WAGOs are constant force clamps I believe.

Don't give Steamy and Pocster ammo by mentioning the left-hand rule 😕
