Bonner
Ignoring the mess ... is it possible to get a 7” diameter flue in the position highlighted? Stove installer is saying not, is he right or just a bit fiddly? Quite happy to take the ridge tile off (for obvious reasons!) but how would the flashing fit? ProDave
Probably not. the issue is not just the flashing, but all parts of the flue have to be at least 2" from combustible materials. So you need an 11" diameter clear hole to pass a 7" flue through. you would have to take the tiles off to see the roof structure to see if you actually have space for that. But all it means is you have to move the flue a bit in both directions to meet that requirement, so it might not be exactly where your circle is. Bonner
Checked the rafters are clear of that position. Trying to get a vertical flue straight up from the woodburner so that’s where it needs to go. I am more concerned about the flashing next to the ridge tile. PeterW
Is that a masonry chimney next to the outlet ..? Why not cut into that inside ..? Ridge outlet would be challenging but a decent roofer could make an apron for the flue. I would create a box with a flat top level with the ridge tile, then bring the flue through that and put a lead cloak over it. Bring the flue up the middle and then weathering collar over the top. Not quick or cheap to do but would be watertight.

Not a chimney, that’s a corner of the main house (WBS is going in single storey part) I was hoping to take the ridge tile off and tuck the flue flashing under it, as the stepped flashing has been done. There are many 'roofers' who are just builders who don't mind heights, and nobody normally inspects the work. Assuming you took the picture, are you going to be the 'decent roofer'?
