cwr
Some guttering appeared on our build today, despite the rendering not being finished. Is that normal/ok? There are two coats of base layer on but still to have the final Weber thin (top) coat applied.
Russdl
I’d say ‘no’. The top coat needs to go behind the gutter as well. Perhaps they’ll take the gutter down when they render. Maybe it’s just a ‘test fit’ of the gutter...
Ronan 1
Gutters often go on so if it rains during or shortly after plastering the water from the roof doesn't destroy the plaster running down it in lines, usually they will put a lenght of pipe up against the outlet for the down pipe to let the water captured down to the ground away from the walls
Conor
It's to keep the wall dry for the top coat. Our renderers did the soffits and fascias, we put on guttering, then they came back and did the walls. Edited May 12, 2022 by Conor
Mr Punter
You can get polythene temporary downpipes as well. They tend to flap around when it is windy though.
cwr
In fairness the guys are being picky with the weather about when to render (plenty to plaster on the inside on rainey days). So if there's any splashing from gutter to behind it then it'll not matter there's no top coat?
