Hob Extraction with MVHR

With MVHR fitted, is it recommended to use a hob extractor that is vented to outside, or should you only consider a recirculation style of extractor please?

Blow greasy yuk outside, use a good non return flap or actuated valve, I don’t like grease or greasy steam in my MVHR

Either an option. You just need to use a decent damper flap (ideally actuated) with vent out. We went for recirculating because of difficulties getting the duct through the floor.

A powerful recirculating hood will remove the nasties before it gets in your MHVR unit. We didn't want a hole in the outside wall so went down this option. The MHVR vent is 4 feet away from the recirculating unit and 8 feet from the vent exit.

 

Our induction hob is an island and hoods are limited if not against a wall. We went for a large Cookology 100cm ceiling unit
