Neilp
I am looking to get 7 replacement timber sliding sash windows made to replace some old PVC windows, they measure approx. 1600 (H) x 1000 (W), does anyone have any experience of what pricing level I should be expecting? Neilp
A couple of local builders I spoke to previously were not giving Jeld-Wen a very good reference, although this was from a couple of years ago.

Well done to you. Have you decided on a traditional weighted window with the ropes and pulleys or ones with what are called spiral balances. These are visible but a modern way of creating a nearly traditional sash and case window. If you are going for the ropes, pulleys and weights you need a good rebate to fit all the wieghts in, usually about 100mm rebate to be safe. Next is the glass and the type and shape of the window, astragals etc. I would make a sketch of what you want and send it out to some bespoke manufactures for a ball park figure as they will vary widely. Neilp
I’m not too sure, I had imagined weights and ropes, but I want it to look correct, and work smoothly, within a reasonable budget.

Sorry can’t remember it was about 10 years ago. Various sizes, all made to measure. Specs look the same as on their website now.

I have no idea what current pricing is like but Russell Timbertech is very worth a look. They were recommended to me after I'd ordered my windows. http://www.russelltimbertech.co.uk/windows-doors-ranges/conservation-windows-doors
