WWilts Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 New build in progress. Traditional cavity wall. Outer stone or brick, inner aircrete blocks. Solidor booked, local company. Opening width 1110mm. No questions raised by the local co. Subsequently read somewhere that Solidor max width is 1013mm If local co. / Solidor come back stating 1013mm is maximum, how to fill the excess opening (50mm each side) in a thermally efficient yet low cost way?
Temp Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 What do they use for the frame? Could you use two frames? 1
Temp Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 This co has larger doors.. https://www.kloeber.co.uk/about/faqs/what-size-front-entrance-doors/
WWilts Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 Committed to this local co. (& Solidor) Kommerling uPVC frames are used by Solidor. Perhaps 2 frames can work. Local co have not raised any objections so far, following their on site survey to measure the openings.
Russell griffiths Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 If it’s a upvc frame, they do frame extenders. Will look a bit shite, but hey ho. 1
markc Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I reckon you can do an infill panel both sides and make it a feature, sort of framing the door (no pun intended). think of accent stripe 1
