WWilts
Would like differing roof overhangs on south and north elevations. Rafter pitch identical on each elevation. Hipped roof How to deal with soffit design? Edited December 20, 2021 by WWilts
tonyshouse
Draw the soffit first then the rafters then decide how to support the rafters above the inner skins of the walls
SuperJohnG
Sounds a pain in the arse. ? I have different roof overhangs on an elevation. No hip though mine ends as a glazed gable with big overhang. But you could do a angled soffit to make it work, that's what I have but mostly for the look, I didn't want pork chop soffits box ends. Russell griffiths
This does depend on how much you are talking about overhang wise, and also roof pitch. With a steep roof 30degrees plus you find that the wider your soffit the further the roof line comes down the walls, sometimes coming down as far as the tops of the upstairs windows. Its really all down to your roof and house design. A bit too general to answer without a diagram. I have soffit depths that range from 450mm to 1800mm.
