AdamF
Hi, We've just had a patio laid and we wondered what the best product was to seal it? Can someone recommend something? Thanks!
SuperJohnG
You need to provide more detail so people can make a recommendation.
AdamF
To add more detail, the patio consists of paver blocks and paver slabs (council) and is approximately 5m long by 2m wide. It's laid on a cement base and has been joint filled with kiln dried sand. I've cleaned it with brick cleaner and I'm now looking to put some sort of seal/waterproofer down to make the patio look finished
Stones
Very timely question. I'm likewise seeking an answer - I was assuming something like this- https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-path-patio-driveway-sealer-5ltr/49885
Makeitstop
Need to know whether its concrete, porcelain or real stone. Sealer isnt necessary on all, and in fact, isnt actually "necessary" on anything. No matter how well sealed if you do decide to go that route, it'll always wear, and as such, will require maintenance if anything is applied. Stones
In my case concrete paving slab, home made (wet mix, vibrated). I'm also wondering how useful a sealant would be on my garage floor to prevent water that drips off the car from soaking in. Concrete has not had any treatment or paint applied and has been there five years.

What are you looking for from a sealer?
Makeitstop
Sealing a garage floor is not a bad idea. It'll reduce dust and can also provide a level of priming for floor paint. Externally though, and on concrete pavers, I'd say its largely a waste of time and money and may be one of those jobs you wish you hadn't started. AdamF
That's interesting. The patio is made of concrete council slab pavers and brick paving blocks. We were looking to seal to add waterproofing and give it a finished look
AdamF
Thanks for the advice. I don't think I will bother with sealer then in that case if people don't think it's worth it
Makeitstop
No, I think it's better left alone and youd be wise to pass on doing what you've considered.
