Cost comparison of standard tarmac vs block paving

Has anyone got and idea of the cost comparison between a standard tarmac drive and a block paving drive?

Block paving looks better but worried what the costs would be!

concrete's cheaper than tarmac, according to local tarmac guy...

Tarmac should workout about 20 % less than BP on a 100 m2 plus Depending on the type of paver you are using

Concrete with me is about 65 pm3 so £8 per m2 based on a 5"slab then add about £4-5  pm2 for laying it at a guess so circa 12 to 13 pm2 and I can get SMA supplied and laid for £13 pm2 based on a single 80mm layer.

Also consider maintenance- tarmac often zero, block paving a nightmare for weeds, printed concrete near impossible to repair

I am in the process of have a resin bound driveway installed. 105 square meters. In my initial searches on forums like this a figure of £60 to £90 a square metre was consistently quoted.

These quotes never include the groundworks required to get to the final product. I had quotes for the whole job between £8K and £20K+. The company I finally settled with are charging £120 a square metre and that is after some negotiation. This includes excavating the driveway area, MOT1 sub base, open tarmac sub base, resin bound gravel and all retaining blocks and threshold from the street.

 

So to get a true price for whatever surface you go with be sure to make sure the price per square metre includes everything even down to recessed manhole covers etc and not just the finish surface product.
