vfrdave
I understand a standard ring circuit wiring. However if one double socket on that ring was at a high level and 'user' (substitute for FIL) wanted it switched by a light switch, how is this done? 20A switch placed into the ring with switched live out to said socket? Perhaps one @Onoff@ProDave can answer quickly?
ProDave
Yes but I would prefer a 45A DP switch or a switched FCU

Does such a thing as a 2 gang fcu exist, couldn't find one on a quick Google.
TonyT
It’s standard practice to have a switched spur control an appliance, you could put 2 side by side or build something with grid switches
