It looks like Ronseal may have discontinued their General Purpose wood preserver that I've been using. Anyone know if their "Total" range is similar?

I've just wasted £ on their Shed and Fence Preserver and its just not what I'm looking for at all. Its like its pigment rather than a die.

What product did you buy/use in the end?

I used light brown Creosote from bnq instead but it's not as good looking.

I thought creosote had been banned due to it being a  carcinogen?

It has for domestic use, but is allowed for commercial use. I found their creosote substitute to be good, in the short term (six years) at least. It has the same reassuring smell.

It  is like used engine oil.

I used it on raised bed timbers and it seems to work  as a preservative, but I think might look poor on  a shed.

I used it on our fence and it was dark brown. I'm not sure if they do a lighter shade.

Available via trade routes, and legal depending how it is used.

Banned from being advertising.

A very British fudge.

Outdoors, wih a long brush. Mask if you wish. Safe i would say.

Once applied it will be safe.
