jfb Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Just having to deal with a leaky T joint and I am wondering if maybe the black O ring in the picture should be the opposite end (ie before the white plastic O ring that at the moment is the first to go into the equal T)?
jfb Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 Just to be clear I’m talking about the black O ring that is at the bottom of the rings. The black bit at top of pipe is an insert.
Russell griffiths Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 That looks right. It is normally easier to just yank that fitting and chuck it in the bin, new fitting straight on.
Nickfromwales Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Check it’s not a linear scratch on the pipe, as these fittings rely on 100% perfect surface contact to be sound. Basically, if the o-ring sits on a scratch that’s running the length of the pipe, usually caused by apes pulling / dragging the pipes against brick / block etc during 1st fix, then you’ll get a leak that’s not caused by the fitting.
Nickfromwales Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 Not sure if the white spacer is supposed to be next after the but as a conical slip washer for the rubber. Open the other sides of the T and compare.

Nickfromwales Posted May 28, 2021 Posted May 28, 2021 I think one is sat low down / out of sight in the bottom of the nut in the OP pic.
