Vijay
Never used one, but looking to buy one for now and again use. Don't really want to spend loads as I doubt I'll get the use out of it, so looked at Screwfix own brand for some guidance, something like this https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-ero400-125mm-electric-random-orbital-sander-220-240v/581fx or the larger one https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-ero450-150mm-electric-random-orbit-sander-220-240v/285fx Both good reviews, but was surprised that motor bushes can't be changed. Is that common these days or only on the cheaper stuff? Any recommendations for one? Cheers Vijay
markc
you wont go wrong with an Erbauer, you can pay silly money for orbital sanders and its pretty pointless. They all do the same job, yes some are vibration damped buy you wont tell the difference
Vijay
If it was a daily use tool, I don't mind spending more, but for a now and again tool, I'm not a tool snob lol
TonyT
I’m a festool sander man, but if it’s for a few occasions get one out of Aldi/Lidl, use and abuse and if it breaks get a refund. Local store for easy return.
Vijay
I did look on both of their sites and Lidl have a DIY event but no sander
SteamyTea
I have always found a quarter sheet orbital palm sander better. And you can by a roll of paper for it and not have to pay over the odds for the velcro ones.

As I said, I've never used one so I don't know..............

Depends what you are sanding, SteamyTea is correct regarding economy and general use - gets into corners better etc. Circular random orbital you can use the edge for digging is a bit but needs practice or you will get swirl marks much easier than a rectangular plate
