Tank Gas v Oil

nod

Recommended Posts

A friend of ours Has a cottage that is heated via a boiler that runs off oil His boiler has packed up and his oil supplier has suggested supplying him with tanked gas

Hes asked me which would be the best and most cost effective

My answer was I don’t know

But I may know a man who does ?

Why did he contact the oil supplier when the oil boiler backed up?  A heating engineer experienced in oil boilers would be my choice.

Almost certainly the boiler can be repaired for a lot less than changing anything.

Thank you for the replies

Really helpful Hes out on the Welsh borders Elderly and quite isolated It does seem like the supplier wants him to change over to gas

I’ll arrange for an engineer to go out and see if the boiler can be fixed

Thanks again

He may be able to get a system fitted for free, like Zoot did.

Neighbour of my brothers had a free oil boiler fitted two years ago on one of these schemes, she has more often than not had no heating, always something wrong with it to the point where she’s had it taken out and paid for it to be replaced

You not read Zoots tales of woe and incompetence then.

Though personally I think his system is fine, just needs turning on for more than a few minutes.
