WorksItOut Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Hi all. I'm a reasonably competent DIYer around the house and have now got it in my head that I can self build a large combined garden room and shed at the end of the garden. I can work through most problems and am researching the hell out of it before I commit so am pretty confident I can do this ?. Lots of interesting threads on here around related topics so looking forward to tapping into the collective.

Ahab Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 I can thoroughly recommend - although do not under-estimate the time commitment if you are self-building. I just finished building a 'cabin' down the bottom of my garden for working in. The work/home separation that is provides now is so valuable for me, wonder how I survived so long with out it. Building it myself around my work and other commitments was - honestly - extremely difficult. A sensible person would take time off rather than squeezing it around work! Wrote a wee blog about it the build if want to read more: https://www.donaldmcintosh.net/blog/cabin 1
Onoff Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 This guy does kits: The build detailing ideas have a few issues being discussed in my Timber Carport thread on here but overall it's pretty good.

His videos have given me the confidence that I could even have a shot at this. Am enjoying his list of tools too - slowly topping up my tool kit with an occasional Screwfix purchase here and there (best bit of the project if you ask me) ?
