DC5
Hi folks, I was planning on putting our CO detector in our boiler cupboard, it’s wired so will trigger the other smoke and heat alarms being installed does anyone know if this is acceptable? PeterW
It’s fine to link them as I have installed the AICO one - how big is the cupboard though ..?
DC5
Sorry didn’t explain that very well - I’m using a linked / wired system but mentioned this as to remove anyone’s fears of the alarm not being heard in a cupboard! My concern is more putting the co alarm in the cupboard - it’s quite small 2.4m high but with a sloped ceiling and only 0.9m wide and 1.1m deep. Seem to remember that the CO alarm I fitted at my Mother's has to be a minimum distance from a gas boiler. They had a new boiler fitted as it kept setting off the council installed alarm. £8,000 later, lots of turmoil while fitting new pipes and radiators, the alarm went off when the system was commissioned. Council sent a man to fit a new alarm, same problem. Turns out the alarm was too close to the new boiler. £8,
DC5
Thanks for the input so far, that was a worry that it would be to sensitive in the cupboard! i think I’m going to need to bring it out into the stairwell. I’ll double check but I assume it’s 300mm from anything and 500mm down from the apex?
Big Jimbo
Your distances sound about right, but the leaflet inside the alarm box usually has a drawing with minimum distances etc.
