Temp Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 (edited) Probably too expensive but how about investigating the new permitted development rules that allow houses to get an extra storey? Need not be a full extra storey? https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/158/additional_storeysextending_upwards Edited January 30, 2021 by Temp 1
Alex2004 Posted February 3, 2021 Author Posted February 3, 2021 Thanks Temp. Yes, that looks so much better and dormer free! I will check it out but fear it will be way over budget and we've nearly finished the inside which would obviously be affected.
Temp Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 I think if you've just done the inside I'd look at moving ?

Expand Thanks Iceverge, here are the pictures. I will also post another of what the back of the house looks like now.
Alex2004 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 This is the back of the house before and after
Iceverge Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Painted Roof tiles, windows and fascia+soffit. Extra couple of meters of Fascia board above door for aesthetics.
Iceverge Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 With Black window frames like the rear of the house. I personally think unless you've super slim window frames this isn't as nice.

I really like the metal roof. Is it costly? Looks smart and modern. The rear windows are standard grey aluminium, just look black in the photos. I’m thinking about a wider porch but squared off like you have it, what do you think about making a feature of it to break up the width of the building? Also, what do you think of the dormer done in white render?

I don't think the render do a whole lot for the dormer. It draws attention to the irregularly spaced and sized windows. I did draw a wider porch but given the extra cost involved It didn't add too much to the aesthetics. If I was to spend more cash I'd probably put it towards doing something to break up the vast brown flowerbed /rockery as as well as the paving. If it was me I'd start with a tub of tile paint and PVC paint and see how it went. Edited February 12, 2021 by Iceverge Clarity + additions 1
