  1. Hi everyone We have a small mid-terraced property that we need to make more wheelchair friendly. Amongst other things, we were hoping to enlarge the existing small porch at the front, right across the front, to provide storage for an outdoor wheelchair. It would enclose the front door and the lounge window. But I think I read somewhere that buildings regs does not permit the only window to a room being enclosed in a porch. Am I right? And if so, why does a conservatory not fall under this rule? Many thanksporch-planning .pdf
  2. Our utility/back door seems to be the most used for convenience with laundry, shopping etc and also if we are gardening. Infact our front door is only really for visitors or if it's convenient not to take a key with the fingerprint sensor, running etc. We really need to find some sort of canopy for the utility door rather than our front door but it needs to be larger than the norm as we have things like welly boot stand etc. Has anyone used anything similar to this?
  3. Hi everyone, I am looking for cost effective ways to transform the outside of our ugly house. We are going to remove the current porch which is totally out of proportion with the house and would like something very modern. At the back, ground floor, we now have grey aluminium windows / doors and white render but the box dormer above it and also the whole of the front needs a complete make over. We are on a budget but would like something low maintenance and striking. We also plan to re do the steps and front wall by drive to fit. Any advice welcome - thank you.
  4. Hi, I would like to rebuild and extend existing porch. The idea is to make it usable space for shoes and coats rather than a 'wind catcher'. It already is 3m² but it's within the house wall boundaries so I am unsure if it is considered a porch if it's not outside the house walls. Can I extend it ?
  5. Hi, We need to pick a wood to clad the underside of our porch area and the underside of a balcony. As it is undercover it should never get wet. My wife asked for something with more of a brown colour, I am leaning to brown/grey, we don't want anything too yellow. I am leaning to cedar, one thing I am not sure of is how will it weather if it never gets wet and is not exposed to direct sunlight, will it still weather but just more slowly? Thanks
