Leaking Shower

Recommended Posts

Hopefully someone can help. The shower seal isn't quite doing enough to stop water coming out of the gap between the shower door frame and the sill. Really can't think of a solution but causing us a few issues as can be seen on these pictures.

Any recommendations?

Maybe an aluminium profile that sticks to the shower tray to create a barrier, might be a bit ugly?

Can't really tell from the photo but how deep is the tray? Looks almost flat?

There are seals like this one...

...that have a drip/deflector but they really need a barrier/upstand to deflect it over. You might need to run a bead of sealer along the tray just inside the door to form an upstand so the water drips off the deflector on the tray side of the upstand.

This won't work on the small part that pivots into the tray.

Thanks guys, the tray is flat with a small gradient to the drain and has always been an issue so I would agree that it's not the best design.

I've tried a different seal and was worse so put the old grubby one back on.

The only part it leaks is the small gap between the pivot door and the seal,

Can you not slide the seal along a bit more so it closes up that gap?  Or does it open up again?  If so a few spots of clear silicon to stop it sliding along and keep that gap closed.

Take the seal strip off and soak it in bleach to clean it up.
