Jenni Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Hello. Please could you help me understand concealed shower valves. I'm looking for one that will run an overhead rose and a small hand shower. I've found this that I like https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/hudson-reed-round-triple-concealed-thermostatic-shower-valve-with-diverter-rndtr03 When I read the information about it, I think the middle knob sets the temperature, and the 2 other knobs are one for each of 2 outlets. But, it says it diverts to a third outlet. Can anyone explain please?
Onoff Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 (edited) That seems expensive for a start! Similar to the Reign model I and a few others on here have. Still Hudson Reed. Top control does the rainfall head flow Middle sets temperature Bottom does the handset flow You can have both going at once. Good price here: https://www.qssupplies.co.uk/bathroom-furniture-shower-taps/57864.htm Edited June 6, 2020 by Onoff
ProDave Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 I have exactly the same one as @Onoff Here it is before the wall board goes on: This is where mine came from https://www.britishbathroomcompany.co.uk/reign-triple-shower-valve
Jenni Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 (edited) Thanks for the heads up on the price, I'll have a good scout around before buying. It's thanks to BuildHub numbers that I'm focusing on Hudson Reed, I just prefer the completely round knobs to the ones you guys have. Interesting the link you post gives an option of with diverter or without. So it seems I need one without, though I wonder if I got one with diverter, how would the unit be different, and could it function with just 2 outlets in use? Edited June 7, 2020 by Jenni
Jenni Posted June 7, 2020 Author Posted June 7, 2020 Thanks for the picture ProDave, I'll add it to my file, they're so helpful when it comes to biting the bullet and starting a job / getting a Job done.
Jenni Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 Hello. Efforts are generally focused elsewhere, but I'm still mulling over shower valve options so I'm back again with another question. A valve I Iike says "Hot water temperature 55 to 85 Degrees", and in the manual says - Does this mean it's not suitable for use with my ASHP hot water system, where the tank will generally be at 45-50c? (this one - https://www.victorianplumbing.co.uk/cruze-twin-modern-round-push-button-shower-valve-with-2-outlets?campaign=googlebase&gclid=Cj0KCQiAtqL-BRC0ARIsAF4K3WHWaUvYdYOK3-tAzM3bAkuwrTntu6RqCSAOVy4wduDyWU8hJr0EsssaAjibEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)
PeterW Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 This is why using the immersion to boost the tank temperatures is well worth it. A lot of thermostatic valves need the higher hot water temperature to control the flow temperature through the wax capsule.
Jenni Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 Thank you Peter. Are there any concealed valves (that you're aware of) that will work at lower input temperatures? I will have an immersion, but would prefer not to be tied to using it all the time.
ProDave Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 I am using a Hudson Reid concealed mixer valve that is operating correctly with 48 degree hot water.
Jenni Posted December 3, 2020 Author Posted December 3, 2020 I've just had a read through of the Hudson Reed manual, it lists hot supply temperature as 55c-65c. So it's good to hear yours is working fine at lower input temps. Thank you Dave.
ProDave Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Good job I didn't read that bit then. On the occasions when the water is hotter (excess solar PV) I don't have to adjust the shower temperature so it is regulating properly regardless of input temperature.
