Shower screen

I m having trouble finding a 1200-1300mm wide shower screen that only uses a side fixing system (ie. No support arm at the top). I m m not sure how dependent they are on the support arm for strength and whether installing one without the arm would cause issue?

We struggled to find a solution to a shower screen, we needed to fix from side vs the rear of the trim - could not find a system that did this so ended up buying the 8mm glass separately from the trim.

The trim was cut to size + 2mm and was bonded onto the glass with Sikaflex leaving the 2mm overhang where it meets the floor.

The glass was then put in position and the trim bonded to the tiled wall using more Sikaflex and we rested it on 2mm spacers onto the tray. We then filled the gap between glass and tray with clear Sikaflex, leaving gaps around the spacers, and next day pulled them out and filled those gaps.

We did add a bar just for peace of mind, as it's my sons bathroom, and to minimise any wobble but to be honest it's rock solid without it.

That's the job. Quite a lot for the 1200mm one though - wondering whether I look to buy the glass and channel system separately.

edit. Just looked and I can get a made to measure one (so full height and fixed to the ceiling) for around £400

My mate did that. Just bought a 1400x1800 piece of smoked, tempered glass, and a chrome wall channel. Looked the bollocks.

He asked me to manage the transition from downstairs to upstairs and supply a few pairs of hands.

As he was a friend in need I naturally said no chance :D. I knew him well enough to know he'd have made me buy it if we broke it.

Happened to my fiora skin wall panel yesterday! Gutted as it takes three weeks to get a new one, and we move in in two
