gc100
We’re settled on our installer/supplier however there is one window I’m not 100% happy about. We had the same answer with all the suppliers that we spoke to and they all said it’s not possible to manufacture a fixed window that is 5.5m x 0.8m I a single pane . Thing is I see similar dimensions at airports/commercial setups. any ideas? I know the biggest size glazing supplied is 6mx3m so the glass comes in that size. You may find that you will have to get that one glazed unit from a different supplier I would imagine transportation would be an issue for most
Roundtuit
Did they say why they think it's not possible? Might give some pointers as to who to speak to next.
Temp
I suspect most companies buy glass in standard size sheets. Perhaps they are less than 5.5m long.
Temp
Scroll down this site. The tech data says max 6m x 3m. https://supersealedunits.co.uk/product-line/sealed-units/#toggle-id-2 One problem I cansee might be the glass or seals breaking under its own weight if not handled correctly. For example you can't just pick it up by the short ends. It may have to be supported on a frame/jig until upright? Edit: Alsosays 6m x 3m here.. https://supertuff.co.uk/products/sealed-units/ And here https://www.iqglassuk.com/products/frameless-windows/s22754/ I'd also ask https://www.specialistglass.co.uk/portfolio_page/double-glazed-units/ Edited December 15, 2019 by Temp
SiBee
Have you spoken to frame manufacturers who supply commercial sites? Not near your sizes but I am having new windows installed in our office block and the aluminium frames are being manufactured in Blackburn by a company called Alufolddirect Ltd. They supply frames and glass to trade and public and have worked on large builds. Worth a call
