Temp Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 (edited) Wow, this will upset some people. The devil will be in the details.. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7518545/Families-able-add-two-storeys-home-WITHOUT-planning-permission-new-plans.html Quote Families may be able to add two storeys to their home WITHOUT planning permission, under new government reforms Edited September 30, 2019 by Temp
Vijay Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Utter madness!! Living in London all my life I've seen family homes turned into flats by adding loft conversions and extensions - great for the developer but shit for the people who have homes there. Then add the issue with parking and you get an area you all of a sudden hate living in.
Moonshine Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 So if i understand this right, if you have a bungalow, you can automatically turn in to a 2-storey house under PD? If that is the case, bungalows are going to become pretty sought after!
Ed Davies Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Is there a better source than the Daily Mail? E.g., one worth clicking on? 1

Temp Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Initially this will only apply to existing blocks of flats. They plan a consultation on extending this to all detached houses. No doubt there will be a lot of restrictions if it ever happens.

Temp Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 So you hit them with an application to knock down and rebuild at the same time. Saving VAT as well. 1
