Hi Lads,

I'm a 31 years old architect and urban planner from Joaçaba, Santa Catarina, and currently living in Florianópolis. I found you guys after looking for a detail of a wooden roof cladding.

Best regards,

Roger

Welcome Roger.

Florianopolis sounds like an interesting place.

It would be interesting if you were to post pics of a few buildings you find interesting, and projects you have done ... especially low energy houses which we are keen on, and th3 different challenges in Brazil. Perhaps once you have settled in.

I very much like this F-something-opolis way of naming things. All I need now is somewhere willing to become Ferdinandopolis.

I would try it with Nottingham, my local City, but that might cause an increase of exactly one in the crime rate.

Welcome

I speak no Portuguese, except two words, one is rude, but my neighbour is fluent in it.

What kind of timber cladding for a roof are you thinking off.

In the UK we tend to use tiles or slate.  Though we do use rolled steep sheet and composite plastics (rubber).

But the best is really solar panels, they can act as a protective cover and generate electricity.

I have heard of a timber roofing that is used in Norway called Kebony but not something I've seen in the UK
