Ferdinand Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 (edited) A quickie. is is there a knack or trick to this DeWalt bitholder. It has come back from a loan to someone doing a job for me, and I am not totally clear if a thoroughly attached bit requires something to be pulled or pushed or twisted, or if it just indicates a bit of brute force with pliers. Chap got through 2 entire batteries just screwing and drilling ally and wood, Any advice welcome. Cheers F Edited August 13, 2019 by Ferdinand

bassanclan Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I've got those bit holders and they are a bit poor. Pulling the collar back can be a pain and sometimes you need to twist and pull back at the same time
Construction Channel Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 Iv found if they don't come out easily put it back in the driver and thump it into a bit of wood a few times.
Ferdinand Posted August 13, 2019 Author Posted August 13, 2019 (edited) Interesting hour spent using stainless steel screws in oak... quite surprised by the size of the pilot holes needed. Edited August 13, 2019 by Ferdinand
bassanclan Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 You need an impact driver. Once you have one you'll wonder how you managed without it 1
Temp Posted August 13, 2019 Posted August 13, 2019 I think decent size pilot holes is the way to go or you might start shearing off the heads of stainless steel screws.
