Weebles
Just starting to dig to find the drain pipes that poke out of our MBC EPS slab foundation (thank goodness we took photos a year ago ?) and wondering how to best finish up against the EPS when getting back up to finish ground level. we have put some rat mesh over the EPS. Can we simply back fill with some spare MOT type 1 and bits of rubble or do we need to line the EPS with something? Finished ground level will be at the bottom of aluminium trim. Probably going to have some paving round the house in places but not everywhere.
lizzie
We used a membrane....remember it was £250 a roll, had a full roll untouched and pm took it away as had a buyer for it, never seen it or money for it since....can find the name from invoices if you are interested. Ferdinand
I would go for the type of gravel that rats and other do not like digging through. Someone will know what it is. Assuming that you have drainage sorted. F

lizzie
This is the membrane we used...its very thick and bobbly and we had special mushroom fixings into the eps. It went on before the aluminium flashings and we filled up with the gravel for drainage then the hardcore for the base of drives/paths/patios. MikeSharp01
Our EPS came with a rendered outer face so we just back filled and gravel topped against that to 100mm below the cladding base.
