A number of members here recommend Wilo for quiet UFH operation. We have four pumps in our install, made by "Warmer". They are quite loud. The positions of these pumps means most of them are outside of a the bedrooms, but there are two in particular that can still be heard. One services three zones, total floor area of about 34m2. The other services 4 zones, total area of about 62m2 Which pump or pumps do I need? Hi, We have recently had wet UFH installed by a professional - three loops, but acting as a single zone with a single thermometer. We noticed that the flow meters showed no flow and despite the thermostat being set to 30'C, the floor didn't seem to heat evenly or as hot as we would have expected. Apologies I have little plumbing experience however started researching and I have some concerns over how it's been plumbed in. I had understood that a UFH manifest should have a flow block and a return block. I presume water should be pumped from the flow block (where the flow meters are) through the UFH underfloor piping and back to the return block where the actuators are. Therefore I assume that normally the pipes connected to the flow block should be warmer than the return pipes. In our set up, we normally see the opposite - the return end of the pipes get hot first and stay hotter than the flow end of the pipes. Also weirdly, if we turn the mixer thermostat to as hot as it will go, and then turn the pump to minimum, we see flow registered. If we increase the pump speed, the flow registered by. the flow meters decreases So it feels to me that something or several things are reversed and that we're actually pumping water the wrong way round (would flow meters register a reverse flow?). In other google images of similar setups, I see the output of the mixer plumbed into the flow block, whereas ours is plumbed into the pump which is then plumbed into the return block. I would be really grateful if someone could look at the attached photos and let me know your thoughts - am I right that the flow is reversed and is there any reason why the plumber would have done this (he's not replying to our messages at the moment which also concerns me!). Hello, maybe some of the educated people on here are able to shed some light onto this purchase. As the Foundation is progressing, I needed a manifold for the UFH system. To have that in place before the screed goes down. So i looked on ebay , and found that loads are coming from Germany . Thought I skip the importers and just order directly. Had a quick look on German Gumtree as well and found a cheap offer for a Manifold including a LAING FP5000 Heat exchange pump(At least thats what it translates as), pickup only but next to mums town, so she quickly done me that favour. Looks like this: The Label says: TYPE: FP5000 Serial No.: 110110 primary: boiler circle max pressure: 10 bar max. Temp : 110deg secondary : heating circuit max pressure : 6 bar max. Temp : 110deg Laing was bought by Xylem and so the Laing pumps are not produced anymore My technical knowledge in regards to heating system is fairly limited and I am struggling even more with translating between German/English terminology. There is only a German manual (http://www.bosy-online.de/Systemtrennung/Laing_Systemanbindung.pdf ). I can read it , but it s telling me nothing tbh. The tricky bit is that I am fluent in German, but never worked anything to do with construction or anything technical at all over there. Now I do, but all i learned in the years between is the English terminology. Maybe someone is able to tell me what kind of pump this is. Because it says it is a heat exchange pump with it s own separate 6kw heater , which I didnt come across yet (again, what do i know) I mainly bought the item for the manifold . The rest really was just a bonus. The seller bought it around 18years ago and never installed it (rich farmer) and now just wanted to tidy his garages . Said he paid 1000£ for it , so it might be worth installing the pump as well. Any opinions on it?
