Hi all, we will be shortly moving into a static caravan with 3 kids and a dog. Going to be an adventure or a nightmare. we are waiting for sse to hook us up to power which could take some time. In the meantime what is the best option for powering the caravan? Would a silent generator be the answer. If so, what type requirements for a generator should I be looking at? many thanks

Hi all, looking for anyone who has some advice on how we can get a temporary water supply and power supply to our static caravan while we wait for Scottish water and sse to connect us. We are planning IBC tanks for water. (Seperate Bottled water for drinking). Will this work? Or does anyone have any other suggestions. Also for power we are planning a silent generator. But I need advice on what I should be looking for. For info our caravan is heated by gas and the cooker is also gas. Many thanks!

Hello folks My partner and I are three quarters through a self build strawbale house in rural Stirlingshire. We're fully offgrid with solar pv and rainwater harvesting. There's a lot of carpentry involved and I've done most myself, including building a 6 x 4m workshop on site. I've already used Buildhub to find the answers to many questions, and am looking forward to posting my own. Happy to answer any questions on our build.

Hi all, We have got planning for an offgrid 2/3bed strawbale house in Mid-Devon which we are aiming to be near passive house standard. If anyone wants to look at the plans the application number on the Mid Devon portal is 20/01631/FULL. We are aiming to be cement free so my present dilema is the foundations. I have worked on car tyre foundations before and they were very labour intensive, also not sure on the lifespan of the tyres. we have looked at building on gabions filled with stone but these have a suggested lifespan of 60 years. We have thought about using trenches full of clean compacted 40mm stone with the ring beam for the bales sitting on top but the structural engineers want us build a block wall on top of the stone. I would be keen to here other peoples thoughts especially if anyone has experience with cement free foundations. Thanks, Del

Hi to everyone, I've missed ya! Me: building large 3 bed on family farm in rural Lincolnshire using a local builder for most aspects, used ebuild to help review the build and guide it towards more modern sustainable efficient practices I reckon the advice on ebuild saved me many many pound notes so I am happy to contribute towards this new site. Just tell me how!
