Alternatives to Ardex Feather Finish?
CalvinHobbes replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in General Flooring
No worries got it -
Cannot find any lArdex Feather Finish locally in NI and it seems impossible to order to NI. What good alternatives are there in other products?

Thing is, this seems the most water resistant choice possible. Is there really a waterproof option? The joins in click are always going to be dodgy. We have a dog who swims in the river every day and an alzheimers patient who spills everything possible. I suppose we could go for tiles but they are hard and unforgiving plus we need to do this ourselves so having never tiled before or put wooden floors down, click seemed the less challenging. Floor is too wide for vinyl sheets and the only other thing is resin which is a bit cosmic and eye wateringly expensive.

I think they are all ok apart from the green door and perhaps we could just get threshold ramps to make it work? Of more concern is the bottom of the staircase. I think the 6mm flooring is still going to leave the first step too high compared to all the rest. We have underfloor heating. I wonder what can we do to get around this, I guess build a step or ramp and the bottom of the steps?

Hello, so we really need a floor. Every night our dog goes for a swim in the local river then comes in so we need a waterproof floor. We liked this spc, walnut kinda look to it and can get it for 21 per sq m in the morning (down from 29) But our building control officer does things by the book, no shortcuts. Do you think the levels on these 4 external doors would pass? (there is a granny annexe) Mums front door is the green one and its supposed to be accessible.

Lol I am one.

So got this far, now what? Ideally we will put some sort of terrace at the rear, I guess with a low retaining wall to the upper part which should be garden. Also see the side, we have coarse soil and top soil available,we could bring around. To bring the levels up presumably where those drains are? Trying to save a bit so if we had a baldie, we would do it. Any advice more than welcome.

Hello again, we have a Vent-Axia Lo-Carbon Sentinel Kinetic B Plus and not sure what is the best vent to put outside?

Gazooks, can we avoid moving the drain pipe?
CalvinHobbes replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in General Plumbing
How much should it cost to move the pipe back from enough? Weighing up options. This is what's underneath and frankly how risky is it? -
Hi there, We have an island and the dishwasher can't be pushed back enough because of the drain pipe. We need it to go back 7cm. We have 4.5cm clearance above so chat gpt (yes seriously) suggested I could raise it and put in a flexible fitting at the drain with a loop. Just trying not to dig up floor. Whatcha think?

Yes both tanks are in loft, unsure if gravity, may be pressurised?
-
Hi there, in homebase it's closing some bargains.... Saw these for shower and was wondering would they do? They will be supplied from tank in loft. So is it just a matter of the plumber attaching this to the 2 pipes coming out of the wall? £18

Much appreciated, builder coming next week and may do a cause of damage report, no point paying for a loss adjuster if the contract means they won't pay.

Sorry floor very soft around drain, shocked to see NO plywood under that area. I just need to make sure if she uses loo that there is plywood under tiles in that section. Medic coming out with her for a test run re mobility on Friday, I didn't want either falling through floor. Doesn't appear to be plywood under tiles in front of sink. Holy moly.

In a relatives house, currently dealing with cancer, will get home next week. Turns out her wet room floor has failed. Insurance won't cover. Problem is it's the downstairs bathroom and she is using a walking aid. So I am here now and digging in to see which way joists go. Do they need replaced?

Why are kitchen pendants not ip44?
CalvinHobbes replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in Electrics - Kitchen & Bathroom
So could I put up this on our island with a downward draft hob? https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/agunnaryd-pendant-lamp-with-3-lamps-black-10364783/ -
I am a bit confused, why are all these multi bar pendant lights for islands not ip44 since many have stoves or hobs? Our island is 2.2m but struggling to get a suitable light (some are ip20). Also not easy to get over 100cm but surely we need 130 to 150? We have one wire above.

Indeed, we have glue down.

Thanks, fair point. We have chemfloor and it was well put down, only one crack and we have to deal with the breakers too. Not quite sure about them. So hopefully not too much scraping.
