How much sub base would you suggest? the shed itself is screwed into the base. How would you suggest securing the base itself?

Are most of the plastic grids much of a muchness in terms of quality? B&q etc ok?

Ahh yes, fair enough. Fairly soft soil here so guess I need hardcore first. I am thinking 60mm hardcore then the grid filled with pea gravel.

How much sub base and what type? 50-60mm depth for the aggregate do the job?

Nice. Sub base as well? Cut the grid to the size of the shed or a slight over/under hang?

Yeah I’m going down this route i think, far easier than concreting. Would I still need a hardcore base if I used this? If so, how deep? 3 inches of compressed hardcore then the plastic grid and then shed base?

Thanks. Any other suggestions for a good base, or would that be the best bet what you said? Starting with a clean slate of soil so want to get it right.

Looking to install a solid base for 8ftx8ft shed - best approach dig down, hardcore (3inch?) then 3 inch of concrete on top? Any other considerations?

Kitchen units and desk

It’s not just the desk though, it’s all the units around the room. Really not worth the hassle for the size of the room. So even with normal wood flooring edging you don’t think it’s a goer?

I am looking to replace the carpet with wood flooring in our home office, but have fixed units which I don’t intend to move so looking for some advice as to the best approach. Not as easy as flooring a clear area so any tips appreciated. - box room converted to office with units and a desk - square room so ordinarily a nice easy job - what would be the best way to install the floor up to the units? - how would you finish the edging where the flooring hits the units? some pics attached

Silly question but would that not mean the maximum brightness is reduced? Wouldn’t bother me but my wife has it really bright!

Primer first or just go over the top with paint? Rather do the latter for time reasons but if it needs primer that’s fine. Same colour, white, so presumably primer not needed?

Thanks all, I’ll check out the Zinsser one at the weekend. There is a bit of mould there already so sounds like a good option, not much but any is too much! Yes we have a working fan but it’s frustrating as the lights are on a dimmer switch and it only comes on when the lights are probably 50%+ brightness, whereas we tend to use it much dimmer than that. Always wondered why extractor fans are linked to lights - is it normal or should they be independent?

Any recommendations for a good quality anti mould bathroom paint?

Recently had chimney breast removed and ceiling plastered, therefore concerned about rain coming down through the chimney and wrecking the ceiling. Would this cowl suffice? Looking like it may be worth a new one. Can get 27% off hot point so really considering that option. I hate this throwaway world but if I replace this and in 6 months something else goes I’ll kick myself. Are they particularly difficult to fit? Took the thing apart to see what is what and haven’t a clue if I’m honest. Can’t even see how to remove parts. Here are some pictures, help appreciated. I’m very much a novice here!

Problem is when I move the dishwasher out the drain hose runs out of flex so can only take it part way (definitely need a longer hose). Presumably I can test the terminals with the hose disconnected?

How would you test the resistance? Do I need to take it out and get into the nuts and bolts of the inside? Yes exactly that, empties fully and then refills over time.
