  2. Can’t really see how to do that, and how it should work. YouTube videos not doing it
  3. Got another video but won’t upload even though under 5mb, how else can I share?
  4. IMG_1114.mov
  5. Spring broke, replaced spring but latch is just loose and doesn’t lock. At a total loss what to do. Any thoughts?
  6. Proper newbie query here but want to do it once and do it right. Presumably I detach it at the bottom circled area then remove the connector at the top circled bit to attach it to the new one?
  7. Excellent news, thanks. So it should be as simple as remove old one, fix new one to wall and install?
  8. I read you only need it if it’s an electric one. This is connected to the gas pipes like so
  9. Do I need to put anti freeze in? According to the instructions I do but this is something I hadn’t thought of!
  10. Haha absolutely, and working off a ladder is what they did. Seems to have done the trick and a fair price so all is well.
  11. Anything to consider with regard to going up in size from 800mm to 1600mm, other than a few more evenly spaced out screws. Hoping not too heavy for the wall, but am thinking 6 screws should do it? Currently have 3 in th 800mm
  12. Any advice as to which towel rail to go for? I literally have no idea in the difference in quality between say one from wickes and Victorian plumbing. Any advice appreciated
  13. Yeah I’ve accepted it. £190 plus vat for a couple hrs work feels fine to me.
  14. I mean they literally said a half day job but there you go.
  15. So the £500 quoted is a nonsense given it’s a max half a day job?
  16. I get all that but you’re not buying new tools for every job. I’m an accountant, I understand how fixed asset purchases, income and expenses work. anyway, I’m not here for an argument I simply came for advice. So far around £500 has been mooted, which I find excessive. Interested to hear other views.
  17. I don’t think so, was done about 7 years ago but I can see your point about colour matching to fill it if needs be. I’m probably being a bit picky!
  18. Ah yea, got you. So essentially they should be able to be used on any towel rail so I can simply use those fixings in the same place (plus some at the top) on a larger towel rail?
  19. Where did I say it was easy for a layman? For a pro it is a very easy job. And that isn’t me saying that, all 3 people I had to quote said it’s an easy job.
  20. Tools and ladders all already on the van, picking up materials takes 10 mins. £500 for say 3 hours? Around £150 an hour excluding materials, seriously?
  21. Similar to this https://www.screwfix.com/p/felt-support-tray-5-pack/36622?tc=PB4&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpKHIsY6TggMVaI1QBh3EdQE4EAQYASABEgLO7_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Guttering is a tad lower than the roof tiles on one side of the back of the house, nothing major but enough to create a gap which results in leakage during rainfall. I’d estimate it’s 2-3m worth needed. Just getting some quotes and wondering what you think is reasonable. I’m in the south west, would assume it’s a 2 hour job and £30-40 of materials so much more than £150 feels high? However I appreciate it’s a small job so will feel more expensive on an hourly basis.
  22. Current one is leaking and is only a half size one so not bothered about fixing as bed a bigger one anyway, however am really struggling to find a large one which will have the same fixings as the current one as don’t want to be left with exposed holes in the tiles that have been filled. Any ideas?
  23. Thanks. What would you do as first steps to diagnose?
  24. There used to be a concrete patio outside that door, higher than it is now. It is now hardcore decorative stone, at a lower level with better drainage so I’d be surprised if it is that but it certainly looks like it.
