  1. ProDave, Since posting, I have received the certificate! It is completed work. I still need to harangue the M&E contractor!
  2. It is taking months to get my electrical compliance certificate. My M&E contractor used a subcontractor who seems incapable of providing me the link to my certificate. He keeps promising to be in the office and address it. My M&E contractor has used every excuse available for over a year to avoid addressing the electrical compliance certificate, the fire alarm test certificate and rainwater commissioning certificate. (Is there a an excuse playbook he is using giving a complete list of excuses for me to check against) In meantime my BCO is due to retire at year end! Without BCO sign off I have VAT locked up and should I need to sell, I cannot. I have no financial pressure to exercise over the electrical subcontractor and minimal pressure over the M&E contractor as I have been prompt on stage payments and have little retention. Anybody any ideas how I can jack up the pressure or otherwise get these certificates?
  3. Just starting to explore self build insurance. My quote from Self Build Zone just now shows Markel International Insurance Company Ltd as the underwriter. It's the first of my researched portals.....
  4. Dave, Oxfordshire - Just inside the Oxford North ring road. I'm new here so still discovering the joy of village names in the county - Horton cum Studley, Toot Baldon, Dry Sandford (lots of flooding elsewhere), Kingston Bagpuize.
  5. Good day Speaking to Tom's Barn I was reminded of this forum and felt I was now at the stage where I could join in. I will explore the range of forum topics and blogs gradually! Our Build We have permission to knock down our small bungalow and building a modest design on the narrow plot. Averse to wood framed, but seeking energy efficiency, we are going down the insulated raft/woodcrete ICF route. I was introduced to Tom and his Isotex build, and in addition to his helpful input, I'm hoping to gain from your experiences and contribute our experiences along the journey.
  6. I'd support DIY kitchens. They are not bespoke but their range means you can design and install a v good quality kitchen pretty easily. After all, you know what you want. I am just designing my second with their tool and their sizes and options mean I have little to no dead space. They can help with the design and proof your order so while you do not get the full bespoke design service they give you tools to do it yourself. Look at their reviews and I recommend visiting their showroom in Doncaster. They supply nationally. You can get all the appliances from them too or source elements separately. And take a holiday on the savings! All the best Robby
