We have been trying to re-fit our master bathroom since the beginning of January and our plumber keeps delaying us and has done 2 days work so far. We are not getting anywhere. We have decided to complete the master bathroom ourselves because the unreliability is driving me crazy. On that note we have a few questions relating to the plumbing - I think there’ll be a few. question 1. The waste for the shower. We will run a flexi pipe from the waste to the waste pipe on the right. Is that correct?

We spoke to our insurance company and it looks like we’ll be able to get our own contractors to do the work and they’ll reimburse us. It looks like odd roof tile was also cracked and damaged when the ridge tiles came tumbling down. Won’t be a ‘cheap job so worth claiming.
-
Thanks Barney. Some good advice there. We’re also getting some water ingress into the loft (not surprisingly). One would assume that since that portion of roof is 10m high, scaffolding will be required.

Storm Ciara decided it didn’t like our ridge tiles - to be fair, we don’t either. were going call the insurance company today. When we had our chimney redone, the roofers told us there was a new way of fitting ridge tiles where they were screwed down as opposed to cemented. Should we pursue this?

Very cool idea F. Let me know how you come along. We don’t have a greenhouse and our “from seed” stuff last year was very hit or miss... this could be interesting.

I’m probably in contention for some of the more stupid, elementary questions on Build Hub... but it’s fab to get experience, solid advice. -
The new motor is in and guest what? We have underfloor heating again. Yay. Thanks for the help and suggestions everyone.

Cogs are turning IMG_1831.MOV

Regarding polarity, both cables coming from the motor are peach... does it matter which one goes to live and neutral respectively?
-
Ok. We’ve determined that power is getting through to the live cable. I took the motor off, and switched off all call for heat from all thermostats. my wide then turned it on while I watched the motor and the spinny thing on the back of the motor is not turning. I waited for a minute. Fair assumption that it’s the motor that needs replacing?
-
Glad the pros agree. We thought it turned out well. Very relieved.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice: More photos and video available here: https://myhomefarm.co.uk/rebuilding-a-period-chimney

Pertaining to my test, have we now identified that the motor on the valve needs replacing?
-
So why did I have to use the squiggle for this test?
-
So when working with home electrics, do I stick to the right? 600 and 200 V (squiggle)?
-
Success, despite a shot of bourbon and didn’t shock myself again. Reading was 246.

Ahh. I’ll try again.

You’ll get a lot of very useful information here. There is a tone expertise on this forum.

Would be great to get an update. Intrigued by projects like this.

Metre is on V. This is interesting. On 2, 20 and 200 it reads a battery at 1.5V. On 600, it reads zero. Is the meter broken?
-
I’ll check the multimeter and try again.

Yes, the connection was good. Can’t touch it because it zapped me earlier, but was a good contact - didn’t realise it would.
