Here are some drawings of our newly designed house, if you seen my original post a few weeks back it has been tweaked a little bit to try and make more room in the living/kitchen area. All comments criticisms welcome Mike 6314_F_205_g_Proposed First Floor_A3.pdf 6314_F_204_e_Proposed Ground Floor Plan_A3.pdf

Yeah i understand now Jeremy, so would you agree 6-8kw might be even too big? he just said after heat calcs are done should be 6-8kw HP.
-
Hi Jamie, i was tinking we might need 3 phase which im not sure the financial implications of that compared to single, we are thinking of the future like you said, may aswell get everything in place now.
-
Hi Jeremy, I am assuming you have a very very well insulated house? 1.5kw quite low no? we were told to tell them a 10-12kw for ashp and 4-6kw solar PV on the roof, but he said once the heat loss calcs are done we will likely be a 6-8kw for ASHP.
-
Yes its a weird one, like i said when i queried it they asked what sort of heating and i said ASHP so they continued to dig deeper into the questions and i have no idea haha, i will have to instruct a heating engineer or something to help me out. Were are you based? did you get your plot electricity up and running?
-
Hi Prodave, I will look into it, what technical person do you think? like a heating engineer/sparky or?
-
Hi guys, Basically I have applied to SSE for a quote to bring electricity to my plot, she asked what my main heating source would be and I said a ashp or gshp(99.9% were going ashp) and she came back with those questions. Do you think I should go back and query her asking this or?
-
Are all these questions ASHP related?
-
I have asked for a quote from the electricity board to bring electricity to our plot they have said.... Good Afternoon Mike When you are ready for your formal quote, we will need the following information to ensure it is competent to provide an accurate quote; Motor Rating Single or three phase Starting Method (DOL, Star Delta) Starting Current (Amperes) Make/Model of heat pump Can anyone assist the meaning of items 1, 3 4.??? Also who would you speak to regarding this a house spark or industrial spark? Thanks in advance, Mike

Have we any opinions of the upstairs? we have been thinking lately to take away ensuite in the guestroom and move wardrobe to the en-suite area and then freeing up space for living and also turning the upstairs bedroom storage space into a en-suite and make that room the guest bedroom. we originally thought you had to have a bathroom downstairs and this was the ensuite but our architect says it cant be a ensuite which i feel is daft but if they are the rules then there the rules. -

Good thinking with the garage if we are certain this will become a habitable space in the future we will look into the insulation etc during build make it so much easier, i cant get rid of the larder the wife wants one and shes not budging haha. we will look into the idea of making the kitchen/living space larger as this is the main hub of the house, might be a combination of taking space from the bedroom/snug and a bit from utility. -

now that you bring it to my attention your right it does look a bit wasted, this is what i wanted other peoples opinions so we can go back and do a change about before submitting planning. -

it is a good point - we did have discussions of what do we use this space for once the double is built but i think the double will potentially be a few years away so the integrated garage will become a gym, snooker room a,k,a man cave haha -

Hi Ferdinand, I agree with him also - its all good feedback, the fresh pair of eyes is a wonderful thing. i do agree with the taking off some space from bedroom and snug for the main living area as that is going to be the centre hub of the house, the reason it looks a bit squashed is the house was another 1.5m long but we chopped back as we were wanting a house around about 200 - 220 m2 to keep in line with costs. -

Hi Moonshine, Yeah all good feedback, we have looked and chopped and changed alot of the drawings over the weeks we now miss alot of the little changes you have said, can i ask what aux is? is that the storage options we have downstairs? Mike -
Hi Guys, Been a little while since i last posted here, me and my partner have been working with an architect getting plans drawing up for our plot of land we purchased in 2019, we are just waiting on our QS getting back too us with itemized prices so we know if we can build the house as is or if we have to scale back etc, (Fingers crossed we are ok6314_F_204_d_Proposed Ground Floor Plan_A3.pdf). let me know what you all think? The house with the attached garage is around 220m2 and the detached garage is to be built further down the line depending on budget that is sitting at about 40m2. positive criticism welcome, thanks guys :) :) Mike 6314_F_205_f_Proposed First Floor_A3.pdf 6314_F_206_f_Proposed Elevations_A3.pdf 6314_F_207_f_Proposed Elevations_A3.pdf

Hi, Thanks for the Information, Currently it is a field on outskirts of dundee, scotland. There are a few houses next, I will 100% get insurance when building is ongoing but I was just wondering what peoples thoughts, experiences where with getting 3rd party before the build is even started. I think we will look at getting 3rd party cover for the next 12 months on monday anyway then look at full insurance promptly after. We are using an architect to design then going to manage self contractors yourself once pp and bw is through.

Hi Temp, Did you have just a plot? If so who did you get insurance with? That is what I'm thinking it's all cattle fenced off orcas is a field I just own an acre of it with pp.but I'm worried some Cinderella falls and crys about it. If your found to be trespassing shouldn't have any worries but that's not the world we live in unfortunately.
