  1. Hmmm, thank you. I thought our quote was high ...
  2. Can anyone give us an idea how much an airtightness test will cost. Maybe some examples of all that’s included. Thanks!
  3. Hi @Red Kite Thanks. Wonder if the MDF comments came up thinking of mopping the floor? They reckoned they’d need replacing in 5-10 years ?‍♀️ TEV have gone quiet which is a bit frustrating as we need to make decisions and can’t until we have their quote.
  4. @Red Kite have you got your Porta Doors yet? Which ones did you order? We've chosen the Resist with white oak, black inlays and black handles. A little concerned as we gave our builder a sample of the architrave and anyone thats seen it in his office has commented on it saying it's only MDF and won't last as long as wood. Reckons we'll need to replace the doors and skirting in about 10 years. I've tried to find reviews of both Porta and TEV online and the ones from Porta are shocking but seems that the complaints are mostly directed at the supplier, not the quality of the door. Should we be concerned? ?
  5. Do you filter hard or soft water?
  6. Do you?? We’re at first fix stage and a discussion has started about drinking water that’s been softened vs leaving kitchen taps on hard water. Apparently it tastes yuk. Personally I think practically all tap water tastes yuk, but does it taste really rank? If you have a water softener do you drink it and do you like it?
  7. Thank you! Will we regret going for the Pure over the X?? ? Decisions!! ?
  8. Thanks for all the info @BartW Please can you tell me the differences between the Pure and the X Pure. Is it just the X Pure you can move pans around or are there more features? The X Pure looks like it doesn’t have the pan crosses visible. Anything else?
  9. Love F&P. Our bank manager, not so much!
  10. Quote from our builder ... ”I would allow 3 hours per m2 for medium format tiles + £11.00 per m2 for Adhesive, spacers and tooling, therefore our rate to install 1 m2 of tiles excluding the supply of tiles and trims would be £101.00” ?
  11. ... is complete! Things are getting exciting now!
  12. Ah, that's a shame. They sell accessories if you're interested in any of them.
  13. I wondered if that might be the case.
  14. Thank you. Just found it
  15. What's this Miele outlet you speak of?! I need to check that out!!
  16. We had a black composite Franke sink and it looked fabulous ... until some tenants poured something into it which both ate the composite around the drain hole and bleached the inside of it! Franke were amazing - they told us they couldn't replace it as it was obsolete but they sent us a cheque for the RRP amount the sink was last sold at. That amount was double what we paid 11 years previously! Moral of the story - buy quality. We'll definitely use Franke again. Does your sink come with anything else like chopping board, rack, stand for pans??
  17. We can't wait to get the steam oven! We are both plant based so eat LOADS of veggies! It'll be a joy to steam them rather than microwave them, and I hate boiled veg. Bleurgh!
  18. How would that work when there’s only a small amount of (solid SIPs) wall either side of the 3500 opening?? ?
  19. Thanks for the link! They will be on the wall switch too.
  20. As this plan of the area shows better than I’ve explained ...
  21. There’s nowhere for doors that size to ‘pocket’ into!
  22. They won’t work in this space
  23. Ha! And visa versa!!
  24. Sorry @NickK I missed your post previously. If you look at TEV Doors’ prices they appear higher than a door from Howdens et al, but when we compared the quote from our builder for supply, fit, door linings, frames, skirtings etc they work out considerably cheaper.
  25. Any ideas for this area? It’s 3500 x 2300 and we’re struggling to get exactly what we want, so have to think of alternatives. We are going with Porta doors for the internals but the best they’re able to do for this space are 2 x 600 fixed panels (ending where the upright pieces of wood are placed) and 2 x 1000 double doors. This room is our dining room and we wanted to be able to open the whole space up so on the occasions all our family are together the dining table can be extended into the living space with easy access around it when people are sat at the table. Any thoughts?
