  1. that seems incredibly expensive?? i has hoping to build something for 270k max all in!
  2. what do u reckon roughly i could build that design for with upstairs, organising tradesman myself?
  3. thanks bozza, is that stonework likely to be bought in or will it be taken from old dykes in the local area and a stone masonary turn up to do that part? would bought in sandstone already cut etc likely be accepted by planners to go with the white render? yes im starting to get a rough idea now about the shape/materials etc in fairness i wasnt that pleased about the origional designs living area/kitchen etc only being 3.2m wide thanks
  4. thanks, the bottom one would prob be the cheaper of the 2 to build? although being on one level means more foundations and roof cost than if it had an upstairs?
  5. interesting to hear how youve got on, what sort of price range all in would the 4 bed ones on their website be? thanks
  6. really what have been the issues with them and do they operate in central scotland? and are they expensive? thanks
  7. ive had a look it seems like a possible option seems i have to log in to see floorplans etc, is this quite a cost effective option?
  8. heres the thread with pics of the origional plan on my first post, yes im thinking timber frame will be the best option for me, so your saying if i had it in white render with some natural stone features on the walls here and there the planners arent too keen on this? its a nightmare trying to get hold of them on the phone to discuss things
  9. theres a bit much wood on these buildings for my liking id prop rather clad the whole house in sandstone than wood tbh would the planners have an issue with this? im central scotland near perth theres a lot of old sandstone buildings about, yes the services run through outr land and also the connection points
  10. so the planners arent that keen on white render with these these corner stone details etc?
  11. thanks for the pics they look good, 5-6k for slate instead of concrete tiles is quite an increase? yes imon a farm, i do have some old sandstone buildings and most of the dykes on the fences are sandstone should i be cutting these up myself and building a skin over the timber frame? thanks
  12. some good advice that i can say im using slate and use the cheaper slate imitation tiles, by dummy stonework do you mean like a bit of sandstone here and there?
  13. i got a quote 2 years ago for an electric connection and it was 10k but im half the distance from the connection point with this new site so hopefully less, although the way electric prices have gone i cant be sure
  14. ok does slate work out that much dearer than concrete roof tiles? ok i will most likely be needing to borrow 100k ish to complete the build so do i need to use an architect for the build in order to qualify for a mortgage? yes i could do landscaping etc and i have a forklift and tractors for shifting earth, unloading supplies
  15. ive got a guy whos going to draw up some suggestions ill put them on here for people to see thanks
  16. ok no prob central scotland 270k manage myself and employ tradesman no architect flat ground decent conditions hopefully mains available 30m away
  17. ok no prob, my build budget was around 220 but ive increased this to around 270k as material prices have risen id be looking to get around 180m2 of internal floorspace, is this achievable?
  18. how much do you reckon it would save over a tiled roof roughly on the av house size?
  19. what type of metal is that? itll just drill onto the wooden roof trusses? could probably about do the roof myself then
  20. no they werent impressed with the size, or cladding i may have to go 1 1/2 storey
  21. interesting, why arent others using steel for roofs then? any drawbacks to it? thanks
  22. is a metal roof cost effective? its sandstone rectangular shaped buildings in this area, central scotland
  23. im central scotland lot of the old farm buildings round here are rectangular shape, sandstone with tin roofs
  24. what sort of price range would it be to build this? thanks
