a bit light that but no ceiling box at all . I can only assume that the driver is in the ceiling void ?
-
Firstly anyone seen this light anywhere , it’s not the Bora light (frightening price) in a kitchen shop very slim no visible driver ( must be in ceiling) shop says it’s always been there and asked where it came from and nobody can tell me 😂 secondly is it your electrian who deals with your data cabling ( daft question I guess but only because I’m not sure 🤷🏼♂️)

ComfoPost For Zenhder Q250
Nic replied to Nic's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I take it you would link the FC to the ASHP? I’m not sure how they work to be honest -

Alternatives to Ecology Building Society?
Nic replied to FelixtheHousecat's topic in Self Build Mortgages
I’ve just got recommended Hanley economic BS for my self build through Mayflower. If that helps -
Hi small house UFH downstairs 115m2 total space over two floors .fitting the Q250 for our MVHR . We will have an ashp for DHW and UFH . Solar to supplement electricity. the question is do I really need a ComfoPost? my understanding is it would need to be connected to the ASHP and it would need to be a reversible type pump? ( not chosen ASHP or cylinder yet, recommendations welcome)

Site Insurance - The first or final hurdle?!
Nic commented on mike2016's blog entry in The Fun Irish (House)
Quick question. need to get self build mortgage and they are insisting I have site insurance under my name even though the builder has full site insurance. I guess that’s because the self build mortgage is in my name and not his 🤷♂️. Anyway what’s the cheapest way to do this , companies? -
Let us know what you get in the test 👍🏼

What exactly is this purple paint you speak of 😂

This is a cross section of my build between floors sorted. I noticed that there was not a complete airtight barrier between first and ground floor floor. Would what I’ve drawn work ok ? Then obviously taped to the first and ground floor membranes
-
Hi if you are looking to build in timber frame is vapour block osb the best option for internal airtightness control ? Obviously taping the joins etc or is there an alternative or better option?
-
that makes sense and I guess just tape for airtightness etc but it might be a case as mentioned, it might end up being further away from the house and not next to it . Which is why I was enquiring 👍🏼
-
can you show what you mean with the drawing and radius please 🙏

I guess that’s a flexible pipe to go round the 90degree turns underground
-
Can the inlet and outlet pipes for an ASHP go underground and up through the slab or do they come out and go horizontally through the wall? Like I say I’m sure this is one of those basic questions that probably doesn’t make any difference 🤷♂️

Hi who does ventilation calculations for a build is it in the MVHR design? Apparently it’s needed for the building regs ? any ideas

Another Thermal bridging question 🙂 how do you deal with services into the property? Such as electric , water, broadband and things like an external tap for example… trying to get a better understanding of it all thanks

Hi what’s the thoughts on these shower walls instead of conventional tiles ? I see the are some that are the whole length and height of a shower wall say 1800x 2400 , so much have some benefit having no joints etc and have special channels for corners etc . But are they any good ?
-
I see that there is a lot of chat about R290 being the ‘best’ for ADHP. But is that just because it can run at higher temps , so is more suited to a boiler replacement? Or is there another benefit?
-
thanks , and is there any type of wet UFH that is better when in screed ?
-
My build is about to start next month down in Devon . Having timber frame and passive principles ( still waiting on SAP but u value all round is about 0.10 walls/ roof etc and triple glazed windows/doors ). But not decided if I even need to go with UFH , which would clearly need to go onto the insulation and under the screed ? Or pop some electric mats down or those new uv mats ( just in case ?) what is the general thoughts here ?
