  1. Things are good Dave, just getting used to the increase in space mostly. We have the stairs to finish off properly and also looking at the outside works at the minute. yes kerbs are granite I have been looking at but up for other suggestions if anyone has any.
  2. Thanks Declan, I have been looking at 1000mm x 8" high x 5" wide - £13.00 + VAT (per metre) from a company in Newry. Haven't yet priced around. It will be a two man job, my brother will be helping......whether he likes it or not
  3. Anyone attempted there own kerb laying? We are moved in and want to make a start on the gardens. We have alot of soil that needs levelled out and land drainage that needs sorted first but I have been contemplating laying the kerbs to form the patio and driveway. We have a small telescopic and cement mixer plus sand on-site, it would also keep me out of trouble for a few weekends.
  4. I went for the 4g router and the Vodafone sim, it works great. I just need to get it connected up to form our home network
  5. We used David Scott Tiles in Belfast. We went with a 800x800 concrete tile, looks fantistic. in terms of price, would need to ask the wife
  6. Never thought of 4G, will look it up. Do you have a dongle connected to router for home use?
  7. Everyone must have been out enjoying the good weather over the past few weeks. Has anyone used or have any info on Satellite broadband? We have less than 1mb speed and looking at alternatives.
  8. I have the click together rubber mats which the bike stand will sit on, and enough to give me a working space around it. Painting sounds like a better job than tiling due to dropping tools and cracking and chipping and as mentioned, can clear it would and paint again once a year of required. thanks for the info folks
  9. Has anyone any suggestions on what to use as flooring in a domestic workshop attached to garage. It will be the 'man cave' to work on motorbikes etc. Had thought of tiling as would be easy cleaned but floor paint may do same job.
  10. We've had our house rendered approx 3 weeks ago and the scaffolding down yesterday but i am noticing the lines of the blockwork showing through the render. I assume this is as the render and blockwork is still drying out, but has anyone had any issue with this before?
  11. Why did you source your treads? We need approx 95mm deep treads and finding that they will need make up from 44mm oak to get depth due to shrinkage, expansion and cracks
  12. Smart looking door Grosey. Where did you get it from?
  13. Great looking doors, could you pm me cost if you remember? We where looking at garage door systems in ballymena, only company so far we've spoken to. i'm debating insulated door as it's a detached garage and not insulated
  14. Hi John, it was the builder who spec'd and installed as part of his full build so price wise I'm not sure. We have ufh heating on both floors and an air source heat pump for ufh and dhw. We're only at first fix stage
  15. We've just had RTU Ultraflo screed put in a couple of weeks ago, builder dealt with it all so no dealings with any other companies, or even prices. It dried out enough to walk on and for sparks to get in for first fix within 48 hrs so seems ok to my untrained eye
  16. Any recommendations for painters, full inside work done on dry lined new build at Nutts Corner
  17. How you getting on with the ufh @Ryan85 ? our floors where poured last week so ashp should be up and running in a couple of weeks, looking forward to getting ufh warmed up
  18. Hi John, no, we've went ahead with our electricians ideas and ideas we've picked up from website such as Pinterest and Houzz. We have a friend who's an interior designer who's helping with tiles, kitchen, furniture etc she also is giving input into design. I don't want blinding lights when the switch is flicked so using a lot of 5amp switches as above comments and using different circuits for differnet lights which will hopefully work. we are still at first fix so it'll be a few weeks yet before we know the outcome.
  19. Thanks Ian, do you have the Norn Iron version?
  20. We are putting a full treatment works tank in, we are running a drain approx 150m from our house past her septic tank to allow drainage of our surrounding garden. I would want to keep the 2nr houses on separate systems to be honest. But i will discuss this with the family. We thought if she was to update her tank to a water treatment tank then we to 'T' into the outlet when running our drain past it. She was looking to increase her garden size also which includes the area around current septic tank as our driveway eats into her garden at the other side.
  21. Hi, Is there a regulation somewhere regarding septic tanks and when they should be replaced. ie after 30 years etc. We will be running a pipe from our new build past my mother in laws septic tank and she was saying it in nearly 35 years and that she would replace it when we where digging if she needed to. It is still working ok and she has got it cleaned every year. Its more the fact that we will have digger in and she would do it now rather than say 5 years if the regs said that was limit.
  22. Thanks Ryan, It will be close to offer period, but you know yourself how the panic can set in quickly on top of everything else as the deadline approaches. Our solicitor has all the required info at the minute and is working through it. We have until 12th Feb, so hopefully will be ok and hopefully UB work with us if required.
  23. Has anyone every had to get an extension to their mortgage offer. We have been held back with the consent to discharge which has left us short on time to get the first mortgage draw. We have put every penny of savings and loaned from family to get the house 50% completed and my worry is that once the offer period is up we might have to re-apply. I see some mortgage companies across the water have a 15nr working day policy once the offer is up and will give this allowance if the draw down can be completed within this period.
