Evening folks, our new build is coming on rightly, timber frame is up, roof on and external block work going up. we have to get a decision made on heating and current proposal is ashp, ufh to both floors and mvhr system. It seems good setup and visited a few properties with same system installed. Before I make the decision has anyone any comments on system or installed and can give feedback?

We have this one dave https://www.amazon.co.uk/Brinno-TLC200-Green-TLC200-Green-white/dp/B006ICOK00

I like the idea of moving the camera to get different aspects of the build. I have an external hard drive so don't mind filling it up. I haven't thought about the film length, will work it out here and that might decide

Hi all. Has anyone used a time lapse camera when their timber frame build is being erected? We have one we are going to use but not sure how long to set the timer for pictures. I would have thought maybe every 2/3 mins

I have been looking at the strip LED's recessed into the wall just this morning and using the diffuser. I really like the idea and with design input could create a really nice feel and features.

Good idea on the 5amp sockets, wife thinks fantastic idea. i agree with comments that lighting can be a big factor with setting the mood of the house at certain times. will have a look at EcoLED, thanks. i want to bring some automation into it all as well, lighting only but

Hi All, Has anyone ever employed a lighting design company for their internal lighting? We don't really want to go with standard spot lights in our new build and I remember at one of the shows getting a leaflet for a company in Belfast that will do a design for us. I just don't know if want to justify the expense versus getting the lighting right.

I'm really interested in using home automation to control lighting in our new build but with so many products to choose from it's a bit of a mine field. I am interested in 'mood' lighting in the kitchen and dining areas and I like the fact that dimmers can be used if your up during the night. Other than that I really have limited ideas myself on what all we could do with the system so any further ideas would be great. The wife really likes that idea of turning lights on in the house from her phone if she is arriving home late and it's dark. Our heating system has smart tech so can be linked to our iPhones as a separate 'app'.

We are in the same boat Dave, we are pretty set on ASHP system running our UFH and supplying DHW. We have viewed a couple of houses with the system installed and it seems almost to good to be true, radiant heat and loads of hot water and fairly economical to run. Fit and forget technology also It would be good to get some views from forum users as some very knowledgable people on here

Hi Jeremy, Our spark is a friend of the family who has given us a rough price based on previous work. As I want to have a central hub for all tv, lights etc I want to put a spec of some sort together. The light fittings and sockets are easy as I have a drawing marked up showing rough locations and quantities. I have heard of people issuing a spec to the spark to price. I was wondering then if anyone had one of those 'specs' I could add to. Thanks

Hi all, Would anyone have an electrical specification for a new build? I am compiling a spreadsheet but I have shown it to someone else who got confused. Is there a simple way of doing it? Thanks

Hi Jeremy, thank you for this, We have an existing slab in place but this needs removed (banks decision based on lending) so I am thinking we would now be better to look at a passive slab of approx 150m2. Our builder has priced for strip foundations but I would assume passive would work out on power cost wise with strip foundations once the screeds etc are taken into account

Would anyone be able to give an approx cost per m2 for the complete passive slab to include the UFH pipework?
