  1. Unless you glue them to the glass, I doubt they could be considered a "glass coating" 😉
  2. Early adopter, or lots of PV?
  3. Thus might be helpful... https://www.i-buildmagazine.com/features/rural-retreat/1439-the-self-build-diaries-lindsey-and-rik-goodman The guy picked my brain ref SageGlass and used it for exactly the same reason. The property also featured on Grand Designs. I believe they rent it out, so you may be able to contact him to find our what spec he had to achieve, but SageGlasss may not be an option as I heard a couple if years ago that they were no longer quoting for residential use.
  4. At present, yes, but I think I read somewhere that they're going to change it so you only get paid for what you actually export.
  5. Total generation. No batteries, but we typically use around 80% of what we generate.
  6. Yes, for us (averaging about 3.5MWh per year), it would add about £14 to our annual payments, so about 4 Costa coffees, with no guarantee that would continue - let alone increase. My question was more of whether there are other, possibly better, alternatives worth looking at. Our FiT payments totalled about £370 for the last year, so this REGO Boost equates to only about a 3.8% bonus in our calendar.
  7. Good Energy, through whom I submit my FiT readings, have emailed me a couple of time of late, suggesting I could earn up to 9% more from my PV by signing up to their 'Rego Boost'. Anyone bothered doing so, or are there better ways to maximise your PV earnings?
  8. Re Fan Coil Units, when we fitted ours 7 years ago, Panasonic called it an Air Rad. We went for it to provide spot heating/cooling in the main (and only) upstairs bedroom. What they didn't tell us was that, in heating mode, the valve in the unit is thermostatic and will only open when the water reaches a particular temperature (circa 50C iirc). Of course, with the ASHP running UFH for the rest of the house, the water never reaches that threshold. It works absolutely fine for cooling, but we ended up adding a small flat panel electric radiator for the odd occasion we need to heat the room. No idea if this is something that has been solved in more recent FCUs, but worth checking specs before purchasing.
  9. Inconclusive. It was definitely the heat pump coming on, even though neither heat nor tank were programmed to run at the times it was happening (random Monday mornings), and none of the room stats were calling for heat. It's only happened once more since I reported the problem, and not since I put all the room stats into frost protection mode, so I may have to wait until next winter to see if it's still an issue.
  10. Last time I spoke to my SageGlass contacts, they confirmed that they no longer supply for residential projects in the UK. That was a year or so ago, so I guess it may have changed again since then.
  11. Positive. Apparently, only men come early 🙄
  12. Must have missed that debate. That said, for much of the year the solar lifts the tank temp to the desired levels. Outside of that, the sterilisation cycle of our heat pump is fortnightly rather than weekly, and runs during the cheap Intelligent Octopus rate at night, so cost is minimal.
  13. 30, 60 or 90 minutes depending on how many times you push it, but no reason for anyone to go in the cupboard other than to access the diverter or the heat pump controller. Talking of clutching at straws, I'm beginning to think Bob Geldof may be the culprit! And he can see no reasons 'Cause there are no reasons What reason do you need to be shown? Tell me why? I don't like Mondays...
  14. The cleaner does indeed come on Mondays, but not until after the phantom load starts. Are you spying on me? 😉
  15. Hi Simon, no, not an Eddi, a first generation Power Diverter. It's pretty basic, with no ability to program other than a boost button that can be pressed to run the immersion for a fixed period.
  16. We're not passive, but pretty well insulated and achieved 1.6 on the air test. We have had our MVHR running 24/7/365 for over 6 years now (except when changing filters). We have one program for winter, and one for summer, and we occasionally put the boost on (to clear cooking smells a little faster). We never open windows. Doors are for going through and closed immediately. Excellent air quality was the primary goal, and that's exactly what we have. What's more, not only have we never had a musty smell, never mind any mould, but the house stays virtually dust (and allergen) free. Best of all, and despite a degenerative lung condition, my wife is still enjoying better health than she did prior to living here. We wouldn't, and she probably couldn't, live in a home without MVHR ever again.
  17. Normally, no, which I guess is partly why we've not noticed it before today. Think I have little option but to do as you suggest, Dave. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's a little baffled though 🤣
  18. Trouble is, I won't know for sure, Mike, as it doesn't seem to happen every Monday 🤔. Meanwhile, I could be sacrificing a fair bit of solar.
  19. I've just checked the programming of all the roomstats and they are all programmed correctly too (and in any case use a single program all weekdays so would not explain why this only appears to happen on Monday mornings.
  20. Hi Dave, the only separate switch turns off the diverter.
  21. The immersion is the backup heater, and switched via the ASHP controller. The only time the immersion contributes heat to the tank is when the diverter sends excess solar to it.
  22. Hi Buildhubbers, long time no speak, but hope you're all well. As per the title, I have a bit of a mystery. This morning, I happened to notice that we were consuming around 3kW at a time when I didn't expect us to be. Couldn't check immediately as I had to pop out, and the load had stopped by the time I returned. I'll admit, I don't check that frequently these days as the house has been in a settled pattern and overall usage has been in line with expectations. However, on checking bills, we have been pulling such a load on random Monday mid/late mornings, for at least the last few months. Not every Monday, not even every other Monday, but completely randomly, and seemingly for 90 minutes each time. My first thought was to check if I'd made a cockup on the programming of the ASHP, but I haven't (it goes off at 5.30am daily and doesn't co e back on until 11.30pm). My second thought was to check that I hadn't inadvertently changed the time if the sterilisation cycle (for Legionnaires), or that I had somehow triggered the backup heater mode - I haven't. So now I'm baffled. I can only see it being that the ASHP is coming on, but there's no obvious reason why. Any suggestions of where or what to check next would be greatly appreciated, please.
