  1. I am also keen of the textured finish. Thinking that it might not show up scratches as easily (one of the smooth finished windows in the showroom had a few light scratches on the frame that could be seen if looking closely). We have been looking aluminium rainwater stuff as well, as I not keen on maintenance if I am honest...............even considering fake grass (don't shoot me ) Thanks for the info, I might be worth speaking the MSP as well and see about sills and rainwater stuff.
  2. Thanks Al, that's a shame would we would have liked to have not had perpends as well. No reason really. We are waiting on our price coming back from ADW and I noticed you had mentioned your windows were 0.8 u valve as well, so guessed you might be getting them from there. We went the the showroom in Cumbernauld a few times and they do look great.
  3. Hi Ali, Nice to see things are progressing well onsite. Just a quick question re the Porotherm block. I notice you say no perpend vents are required. Is this also the case if the inner leaf is timber frame? We have had some timber frame prices back and as expected they are more than we were hoping Also your windows aren't being supplied by ADW are they?
  4. That's great thanks. The planning permission we have passed is also for 6m x 6m but I'm sure our ridge height is 4.5m......looking at your pictures 3.8m might be perfect for our plot. Did you insulate the slab? Also, if you don't mind me asking how much did the garage build come in at (you can PM if you like).
  5. Hi, What size is the garage and what is your ridge height? I am looking to replicate something very similar when our build get underway.
  6. Thanks Alistair, the planning has been a bit of a saga so far but im hoping to have it all ironed out in the next month or two. You certainly are not wrong about finding a plot in the city, we have been looking for years as well and anything that is a reasonable size was +£400k. I did look into buying something with the aim of knocking down but even that sadly was outwith our budget in an area of the city we would want to stay. What would be great if you dont mind, I would be hoping to be fairly well sorted by christmas with regards to contractors, build method ect but never the less would be helpful to run some questions past you.
  7. Hi Alistair, I say Edinburgh but the plot is actually nearer Linlithgow. Our offer to buy is subject to planning so not actually ours yet. We just sold our house in Chesser, not far from you and have moved into a flat in Dalry that a family member owns (bit of a shock moving back into a flat!!) I know Colinton well as I grew up not far from there, its a lovely area. We actually put an offer in for a bungalow in Craiglockhart last year but didnt get it so made the decission to start looking further afield. Would love to get a look round your build sometime to put my mind at ease.............I have renovated a few properties but this is a whole different ball game!! Thanks Ross
  8. In the process of securing our plot on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Hopefully hear back from planning some time in June. Our plans are for a 200 sqm, 4/5 bed and double garage.
  9. Hi all, First off I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that managed to get this off the ground. Ebuild was such a wealth of information and I (like most I'm sure) was saddened to hear off its closure. Anyway, we are in the planning stages of our build on the outskirts of edinburgh and all being well hoping to start early 2017. many thanks Ross
