vivienz
Besides the other bat boxes we recently put onto the house, we have to put a couple of recessed ones behind the stone cladding on the west face of the stairwell section. Unfortunately, it seems that there is a worldwide shortage if 1FR Schwegler bat boxes and the earliest delivery date I can find (on a German website) is July. Good grief! Does anyone have a couple that they don't need and can sell on? Beware of the shortage if anyone else needs these in the coming months!
vivienz
Here's a picture of what I'm after. It can be fully hidden beneath cladding, apart from the entrance, and has a depth of 115mm.

newhome
Can't you get someone to make something like that to suit?
Barney12
Habibat http://www.habibat.co.uk/ have a pretty much identical box and are the prefered choice around here. We actually made our own boxes for internal and integrated spaces. The ecologist provided the required specs for the openings, roost spaces and squeeze boxes as required.
vivienz
An update on this. Thanks, @Barney12 for the habibat link - subject to a reply from Natural England, it looks as though these will be just the thing. The dimensions of these are actually better for us than the Schwegler ones, as they are slightly shallower and will fit behind the cladding more easily. Our ecologist hasn't been brilliant on this part, I must say. He was completely unaware of the lack of Schwegler boxes and was just keen to source and install them for us! I've contacted Natural England directly to make sure I have an audit trail to confirm that the alternatives will comply with the license requirements.
