All the ‘trade’ (£1 ish) caulk I’ve used has shrunk and cracked.

Are some of the £2-3 tubes significantly better in this respect?

Dunlop was recommended on the job im on. Has still cracked although only has wall paint on atm. Perhaps the oil based will fill these cracks and stay good?!

My fault for trying the caulk the grand canyon many times.

I got a couple of tubes of no nonsense anti-crack caulk as I was at Screwies not Toolies. I await to be disappointed in a years time.

Misuse of caulk by the sounds of it.

Caulk is not for gap filling, that’s what filler is for ;)

Caulk is for fine work, but if you do need to fill the San Andreas fault then fill it and leave the caulk to shrink back ( it reduces as the moisture leaves ) and then go over it again a couple of days later.
