Weegaz
Hi guys, My parents house had the cavities filled about 20/25 years ago. Would the insulation lose it density over that period and would it be worth while having someone look with the possibility of ‘topping it up’ as such? thank you
nod
Yes it would our parents home is 25 years old we had the loft insulation and the cavity topped up Free of charge
PeterW
Some blown bead can settle. There are companies that do remove it but it depends on the material as to how much they charge. I can recommend someone but depends where you are in the UK..?

PeterW
Bit far for the company I’m thinking ..! NI seems to have a lot of bead installations so finding a removal company should be fairly easy. When I checked it was 5% or 0% VAT for Installations but 20% for removal regardless as it’s not part of the installation.

In Northern Ireland peter Yes through a grant Not means tested Just a leaflet through the door Previous years it had been mainly pensioners and very old properties But e eryone was eligible under the government scheme In not sure if NI is part of this scheme But I can’t see why not
Declan52
Give these guys a phone and explain the situation. There used to be a scheme called thermal comfort where they topped up your loft insulation, done the cavity if needed and put energy saving bulbs in your house. My mum got it done about 3 years ago but not sure if it's still going. https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/contacts/contacts-az/bryson-energy-advice-line
