Weebles
We are going to have a Hormann garage door fitted to the inside. We are just trying to secure our garage space for storage over the winter ( door fitting next year) but our render company is going to render it in a few weeks time. So we are thinking about the internals where the tracks of he door will go. what do the tracks fit to? The finished surface or a ply layer before service battens and final boarding? Or something else? (garage will not be used as a garage for cars so we will board it out properly and may even plaster it). current make up is in the photo
Hobbiniho
is it a sectional door or a roller shutter?
Weebles
Sectional, on tracks. Should look like the one in their glossy brochure.

Have you then finished the interior wall up to the tracks? (in our case, at least boarding out) Pics please if you have any.
Hobbiniho
generally they are fitted directly to the structure page 39 of this technical guidance show fitting options dependant on what size of door/ track system you have ordered https://www.garagedoorsonline.co.uk/download/Hormann Sectional Technical Manual.pdf if you batten/plasterboard/skim then fit your door you will have plasterboard in contact with the render or you will have to board the "ingo" with cement board etc before plastering, do you have a drawing of the make up of the exterior walls? OK, that makes sense - fit to the structure. Thanks for the link. I found a more up to date download that has the exact door we want on it. https://www.thegaragedoorcentre.co.uk/userfiles/downloads/hormann_technical_sectional_2017_tgdc_25241.pdf The external finishes are 25mm batten and 25mm render. I was planning on using these in the reveal as well so I guess they just butt up against the tracks of the door when its fitted. That way the plasterboard won't touch the render..... I think all this means we can put some sheets of OSB up to secure the garage without worrying about boarding it out inside before the render people arrive on site. Saves a job today. Thank you. ? lizzie
@Weebles I have the door in your picture. Ours is fixed to the structure (double skin brick garage), we have dot and dab boarded and taped walls and ceilings in garage too. Boarding was done before fitting door, track butts up as far as I recall. We fitted a rubber threshold too because we found the soft rubber seal on the bottom of the door whilst not letting water in did allow a line of water to build up if rain was in that direction. I bought a rubber threshold seal for Hormann doors from an on line specialist and we fitted it a few weeks ago. No line of water now.
