Does anyone have Norrsken French doors or patio doors with a slide under sill? Would you be kind enough to post a photo please? Can’t find one anywhere. Thanks!

What is a slide under sill? Do you mean sliders, or hinged French doors?

What is it you want to see exactly?

Thanks Nick.

Las few we've done have been the full (solid) threshold, ordered with sufficient length for external finishes. I'm often gone when the slide on sills go on as people are sometimes rendering long after I've done all the M&E / helped with window and door install etc.

Norrsken should have some stock images, or ones from finished projects that they could share perhaps.

I’ve been searching but no luck. Their website is crammed with information but it’s really hard to find stuff. I’ve wasted so much time on it.

Is it just the look of outside where it meets render etc or are you still working out depth of reveal > length of sills?

Been on this for quite some time on both recent projects, both Norrsken, and yes it’s not something you can flick through in an afternoon.

It’s what I do day to day tbh, got the empty boxes of headache tablets to show for it, plus all the other finite detailing that often gets left out (that stuff all too often ends up in the rear view mirror).

So many things need this kind of micro-detailing, for a full house build, so lots of folk just dump this in my lap and say “can you sort this?” :S :D

I’m worried how they might look. I just want a photo of a door to put my mind at rest. I have trouble visualising from line drawings. I’ve found all the window stuff quite stressful. So worried that we might have made mistakes that can’t be corrected 😬 I must have been through the order schedule about 50 times!

If you want any assistance, let me know. I’d be happy to have a look over it for you.

That’s good of you Craig, thank you, but it’s just gone into the order pipeline. I thought I could relax but I’m still twittering about the sills.

What is your external reveal finish? Brick, render, cladding or a mixture?

Cills/Sills are pretty straight forward, minimum 20mm overhang but recommended overhang is 30mm and a max of 50mm. From the known window position count from the front face to the external finish, then add 30mm for the minimum overhang. Then add 16mm from front facing of aluminium, to the face of the timber of the window and an additional 8mm for the rebate in the frame (check this is correct with Norrsken about the 8mm). The rebate will sit back a further 8mm (maybe more, but 8/10mm is standard). Sills are always the same width as the window, unless specifically requested otherwise.

Now choose the right end cap, they will likely offer 2, straight up (brick), straight up and over (render/cladding). Make sure they supply the right one.

Thanks for this. We have just ordered. We are hoping we’ve got everything right with the window sill choices. I will check using your advice! I just have an issue with not seeing the door sills. Norrsken seem thorough re end caps, widths etc for windows depending on finishes. We have render with some walls. Cladding on others. I feel comfortable with that. I just would love to see a photo of a slide under sill on a door. I think it may look ugly or flimsy 😏

Are you meaning like a tray that sits under the door to prevent water going further back under the threshold of the door, or standard threshold/extended threshold that projects further out? Is it an entrance/side door, lift and slide, French door (inward/outward)?
