DC: is this a better system?

Currently building a new house and looking at my electrical planning. I’ve read somewhere that DC is worth considering as an alternative to traditional ac lighting circuits. Wondering if anyone has any advice or opinions one way or the other. Ideally looking to future proof and also with sustainability in mind.

If you read the work of J Richard Gott, he states that the longer than something has been about, the longer it will last.

AC lighting has been around a long time compared to modern DC lighting.

So you have to consider the replacement costs, the potential difficulties of getting like for like replacement, separate wiring circuits etc etc.

You can buy, from Poundland, LED builds that plug into an ordinary bayonet or Edison Screw fitting for a pound.

Why complicate things, it is a light build.

There are no benefits or advantages in DC light systems in a residential property. LEDs might be DC, but the drivers and controllers are relatively cheap, reliable and available. Overall I2R losses make it inefficient.

Why make life difficult for yourself.  Just do normal, why reinvent the wheel? Future proof is normal stuff, not novel. 

 

Leave DC to cars and and small boats.
