Evening all.

Looking for advice please. We have a long driveway which wraps around into a rear patio which is all block paved. We struggle regularly with weeds coming up between the blocks.  I have power washed it previously and resanded it but the weeds grew back quickly (even with some weedkiller sprayed.

I was thinking that I could lift the blocks in sections and lay weed membrane down on top of the sand and then re-lay the blocks. Would that stop/minimise the weed issue?

Thanks in advance for your experience.

No. Weeds are wind blown ones that setting the cracks and grow there. A membrane would do nothing to stop this.

Thanks JohnMo.

I'll go back to some monster weedkiller then by the sound of it!! Lol

A weed membrane will stop the roots of any weeds getting down into the soil. But, by that point the plants will be big enough to be a nuisance anyway, so not a huge benefit.

You can always use the resin based sealer after laying. That binds the sand and creates an impervious joint that weeds can't grow in. Very effective.

They still grow, not as much, but our resin grout is all covered moss at the moment, if you pressure wash at a high pressure the resin based grout can also lift out. So you have to be careful.

I'm talking about the sealer rather the grouted you would use on paving.
