I ordered a 800KG bag of ballast and 6 bags of cement and had them delivered by Travis Perkins

AS SOME BRIGHT SPARK SOMEWHERE SAID THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH BALLAST FOR 2X 45 GALLON DRUMS

 

And I started the work. Well i have now run out of ballast!
I was told that an 800kg bag would do me 2X45 gallon/205 litres drums and it has only done 1 and 2/3rd of the drums. I am still 1/3 of a drum short!

Measure twice and all that. At least you can calculate how much extra you need now...

Quick sum. All approximate.  45 gallons, 200 litres.

Concrete is 2200kg/m3.  so 440kg.

 

A big bag of ballast is 800kg. 

So with cement and water one bag will do 2 barrels, approx. If not quite, then chuck in some rubble.

Presumably you will cut the tops off the drums".

As with all things you need to do your own due diligence and check stuff yourself; rather than blaming anyone else. It may make your life more simple and you less angry.

First off it wasn't me who said 800kg, nor was the reference on page 1.

 

I then the used the 800kg as a simple example of doing 4 or 8:1 mixes and also specifically said it might be a bit under filling a barrel.

 

To add I'm now looking to find the ignore option so as not to have to interact with you on here anymore.

You go into your account, and there is an ignore user tag, you just add to the list
